I am sure that most of you know this already, but Matt was in the hospital for little over a week because he developed a blood clot in his LVAD. They successfully treated the blood clot and Matt was released to go home today.
On the way home from the hospital, Matt and Elaina stopped at the store and Matt began experiencing stroke-like symptoms. It got to the point that Elaina had to call an ambulance to come and pick Matt up. Once Matt got to the hospital, the symptoms began to abate to only return and progressively get a little worse in that he was unable to move his left arm and his speech was a bit slurred. Matt was admitted to the hospital to they started a blood thinning medication and then at some point Matt fell asleep.
A little later when Matt woke and it seemed that his symptoms went away as he is now able to use his left arm and the stroke test seemed to show that his stroke-like symptoms are gone (PRAISE GOD!) They are moving Matt to ICU overnight so they can keep a close eye on him and ensure no further episodes happen.
According to one doctor, it is possible they will be keeping Matt in the hospital long-term pending a heart transplant. If this is the case, they will move Matt to Emory Hospital as that is where the heart transplant will take place.
Prayer Requests:
1. Pray that no further stroke-like symptoms occur.
2. Pray for wisdom for the doctors in handling Matt's situation.
3. Pray for strength and peace for Matt and those who love him.
4. Pray for the right heart to become available for Matt.
5. Pray for the family and loved ones of the heart transplant donor.
