Doing Great!

Matt is doing really well.  He is a little tired and weak, but he is back to his old joking self. :)  He also has a lot of swelling.  He is in a regular room and there is talk about him going home on Tuesday after the next heart biopsy.   His first biopsy was good.  Praise God for everything!

Moving around!

Matt was up and in his chair when Aunt Jill got to the hospital this morning!  He had been there since earlier in the morning and stayed for quite a while!  The doctor came in and was pleased with Matt's progress.  The doctor stated that his swelling was coming down and would continue to go down as Matt's kidneys were working well.  Also, if Matt feels ready, he will begin to have solid foods tomorrow and they think he will be able to move to a regular room on Wednesday.  Matt told the doctor he was feeling better.  Awesome!!

More blood...

They gave Matt more blood today because his hemoglobin was pretty low and he was feeling dizzy. After the blood transfusion, Matt was able to move to a chair and sit up for a while and his blood pressure held, so praise God for that!  The doctors would like him to progressively move more, so we are hoping his hemoglobin continues to rise.  Please pray for this to happen.

Matt also seemed more like his old self today, although his sense of humor has not yet returned, he did laugh once today and smiled.    Also, please pray for peace for Matty as the ups and downs are a bit trying for him.

Prayers Needed...

Matt is feeling very nauseated, so we need prayers that this will subside because it is making him pretty miserable!  Also, when he tries to get up, his blood pressure drops.  This is not unusual, but we need prayers for this to stop.  Doctors are pleased with his progress.

Still doing good!

From Elaina:

"They moved him for the bed to a reclining chair.  That's the extent of the "moving around" he'll do today.  He got pretty faint when they moved him because his blood pressure dropped.  They had to give him another blood transfusion because of all the blood thinners he was on.  He is somewhat nauseous and pretty weak.

The doctors said he is doing good!!

So far so good...

Just saw Matt and he looks really good.  He is off the ventilator, so that is good as it really seemed to agitate him.  He talks to us a little and seems to be pretty aware of his surroundings when he is awake.  They are taking REALLY good care of him.

As we progress from transplant surgery to transplant living, we pray for peace for Matty as he learns to negotiate life a new way.   We pray for peace for the donor's family. We pray for strength for Elaina and family to endure the long process of healing.  We pray endurance for the doctors and nurses who care for Matt around the clock.  We thank God for all of the blessings he has given to Matt and our family.  We are so grateful for this new chance at life.
